Trichocereus macrogonus 'Fields' x OPEN Seed Packet
[25 Seeds]

Price: AU$5.25 In Stock: 2 Available

An open cross pollination of a macrogonus FIELDS and an unknown pollinator. A seed cross from Australian breeder Rodni Kisar.

A clone from the legendary Fields collection in Australia, which was started around the 1930s and later donated to the Melbourne Botanical Gardens. M. Fields represents the typical macrogonus and is one of the oldest specimens of this species with a recorded background.

It is thought possible that it is from one of Harry Blossfeld’s, who was a field botanist, South America Expeditions. With its brownish reddish spines on a glaucous body, it is one of the most striking cacti in the SAB collection.

A hybrid is formed when crossing two genetically different species with each other. Most hybrids are manmade however some are natural.
With cross pollination the mother plant is the first name, and the father plant is the second. The mother is the plant whose flower was pollenated, and the fruit ripens on, and the father is the pollen donor. When the crossing plants, in most cases, the resulting offspring comes closer to the mother than to the father. However, there are a lot of exceptions to this and sometimes, the genes of the father are simply more dominant.

Every seed packet is hand counted, not weighed, and is guaranteed to contain at least the number of seeds specified, however human error can occur and please don’t hesitate to contact us if there are any discrepancies.
