Eleutherococcus spp.



Eleutherococcus is a genus of 39 accepted species of thorny shrubs and trees. They are native to Siberia, Korea, Japan, the Philippines and 18 species come from China, from central to western parts. The most well known is E. senticosus, used as a herbal medicine and TCM, it contains pharmacologically active compounds, such as eleutherosides, flavonoids, vitamins, and complex polysaccharides.
