Syn: Plectranthus amboinicus. Cooking herb with an oregano type flavour and used similarly.

The leaves of this herb also have many traditional medicinal uses, including the treatment of coughs, sore throats, nasal congestion, infections, rheumatism, flatulence, malarial fever, hepatopathy, renal and vesical calculi, cough, chronic asthma, hiccough, bronchitis, helminthiasis, colic, convulsions, and epilepsy.

In dry climates this plant grows easily in a well-drained, semi-shaded position. It is frost tender and grows well in subtropical and tropical locations, but will do well in cooler climates if grown in a pot and brought indoors, or moved to a warm, sheltered position in winter. The plant should be watered only sparingly. In humid tropical locations, the plant is not to be grown in the shade or part shade, where it will become straggly and unattractive, but rather in the full sun.

Common name: Five in One; Mother of Herbs; Broad-leaf Thyme; Big Thyme; Cuban Oregano; Indian Mint; Mexican Mint; Soup Mint; Country Borage; French Thyme; Poor Man Pork; Mexican Thyme; Queen of Herbs; Three-In-One Herb; Allherb.
