Syn. Canavalia maritima.
This plant was traditionally used by Mexican tribes. Its an extremely effective potentiator when mixed with your favourite herb, but has properties on its own. The bay bean is supposedly mildly psychoactive when smoked, and is used in tobacco substitutes.
This sub-tropical plant is a fast growing ground cover that creates a mat of foliage. It prefers to travel along the ground but if growth is vigorous it can be known to climb. This plant is native to sandy dunes, it is highly salt tolerant and prefers sandy soils.
Common name: Beach Bean; Seaside Jack-Bean; Coastal Jack-Bean; MacKenzie Bean.
