Anadenanthera colubrina var. cebil is an important tree species for its cultural, economic, and medicinal uses in South America. The bark is the most-used part of the tree for this. Small amounts of roasted, powdered seeds are snuffed for headaches and colds Traditionally used by Indians of Argentina and southern Peru as an hallucinogenic snuff. Has been described as having Mimosa-like leaves. Grows to a 25m high tree with cream coloured flowers. Prefers a full sun position and well-drained soil. Regular watering over the warmer months is required, is slight frost and drought hardy once established. Deciduous in colder climates.
