A perennial tree native to Eastern Australia. It can grow 5 to 6 m tall, but more often it grows as a large shrub. The green parts of this species contain beta carboline type alkaloids. A very ornamental wattle.
It is found on loamy and gravelly soils, often on low ridges. In south-east Queensland it occurs as an understorey shrub in open forest dominated by scribbly gum (Eucalyptus racemosa) or spotted gum (Corymbia citriodora). More common in bushland between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast than in other places but can be found from Coffs Harbour to Bundaberg.
Common name: Long Pod Wattle
Germination Tips: To increase the germination rate, the seed should be treated first. It can be soaked in hot water or the seed can be nicked or scarred so that water will penetrate the seed's hard coating and induce germination. Use a sandy free draining soil mix and place in a warm area.
Every seed packet is hand counted and is guaranteed to contain at least the number of seeds specified, however human error can occur and please don’t hesitate to contact us if there are any discrepancies.
To the best of our knowledge these seeds are viable to the standard percentage for it's species, either SAB nursery grown or purchased from a reputable trusted breeder. However, if you disagree, please do not hesitate to contact us for up to date germination rates or for a germination test to be conducted.
