The most common species of the Catha genus is C. edulis commonly known as Khat or Bushman’s Tea. The genus Catha consists of only a few species, probably a maximum of three. The two others are C. transvaalensis and C. abbottii . These African bushes can all be mistaken for khat, although they themselves have no ethnopharmacological significance.
