Price: AU$5.25 In Stock: 2 Available

A large evergreen perennial that forms handsome rosettes of blue/green spiny-edged leaves. Growing up to 3m but commonly 2m. It is a drought tolerant, hardy, low maintenance plant. It prefers full sun but will tolerate part shade.

One of several agaves used for distillation, this agave is native to Texas, Arizona and Mexico.

Although it is called the century plant, it typically lives only 10-30yrs. Near the end of its life, the plant sends up a tall, branched stalk, laden with yellow blossoms, that may reach a total height up to 8–9m tall.

Its common name derives from its semelparous nature of flowering only once at the end of its long life. The plant dies after flowering, but produces suckers or adventitious shoots from the base, which continue its growth.

Common names: Maguey; American Aloe; Sentry plant.
